“Ze Cobra” | 2010 | NO-GI | BJJ | ADCC | TRIALS | NJ

The 2010 ADCC North American Trials were held at the Belleville High School in New Jersey on the 20th of November. Many athletes from all over the United States came out to participate for the chance to compete in the ADCC Worlds in 2011. One of the competitors that shined at the trials was Nova Uniao Black Belt Josef “Ze Cobra” Manuel. Fresh off of Gold Medal victory at the IBJJF No-Gi Worlds Josef with out hesitating jumped right into the 65 kg category a crack at the title. With exciting submissions going through all of His opponents He was stopped in the semifinals not by the opponent but by the Refferee’s decision that after double overtime gave the victory to His opponent even though Josef clearly dominated the match. Josef went on to dispute for the bronze and submitted His opponent with a brutal toe hold that gave Him the bronze medal victory.

Josef Ze Cobra | Wins Gold | 2010 No-Gi | BJJ | World Championship!

On behalf of CEBJJ students and Competition Team Members we would like to congratulate our Chief Instructor & Nova Uniao Athlete Josef Manuel winning Gold in the Black Belt Pluma Division at the IBJJF No-Gi worlds for the second year in a row.

2009 Panamerican Silver Medalist Josef “Ze Cobra” Manuel!!!

Cutting Edge Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu would like to congratulate Professor Josef “Ze Cobra” Manuel for an incredible performance on the mats of the No-Gi Panamerican Championships of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. In his first match He submitted Saul Alencar (ATT) who was highly favored to win the Black Belt Super Feather Weight division, with a triangle choke from the mounted position after racking up 10 points on the score board. Professor Josef advanced to the semi finals and met head on with 2006/2007 Panamerican Champion Joseph Capizzi. Professor Josef pulled guard and landed a 2 point sweep to put him ahead on the score card. Capizzi did a good job of warding off his guard passess with Professor Josef acummulating advantages for the aggression. Professor Josef won against Capizzi as the time ran out with the score of 2 – 0. Professor Josef Manuel advanced to the finals to face Brandon Mullins (WS-MMA) who got an easy buy to the finals & in a very technical match Brandon scored points as he managed to pop his head out of some very tight guillotine chokes, with the match ending with the score 4-0. Brandon Mullins winning gold & Professor Josef taking silver. All in all a great day for Cutting Edge BJJ as our Chief Instructor solidifies his spot amongst the best as one of the top grapplers in the US. Stay tuned for photos and video footage of the event.

Team Robson Moura Nova Uniao Wins Gold at the Submission Shootout!!!

Cutting Edge Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Instuctors/Competitors Nuno, Isac and Josef Manuel put on show for the spectators at the NYC Submission Shootout on 8/30/2009. They completely dominated their divisions with exciting takedowns, guard passes, sweeps and submissions. on behalf of all of the students and friends of CEBJJ we want to congratulate them and wish them success on their future competition endeavors. Cutting Edge BJJ Wins Gold In NYC!

The first grappling tournament of 2009 in New York City was a success. The NYC Submission Shootout implemented a new rule (catch) for the safety of the competitors. Everything went smooth and the competitors were excited.

“It was the most fun I have had competing at a tournament in a long time” (Professor Josef Manuel)

Cutting Edge BJJ competitors Josef, Isac, Mike, Gabe and Junior represented Team Robson Moura at the NYC Submission Shootout and brought home 3 Gold medals! Professor Josef Manuel submitted 2 of his opponents to win gold in the 140 lbs Advanced division, Isac submitted 2 opponents in the 150 lbs division and won the finals in a sudden death showdown and Junior submitted 2 of his opponents to win gold in the 140 lbs teen division.

We would like to commend the competitors that did not place for medals on the awesome job that they did submitting their opponents in their brackets. We are proud that they showed up to compete and represent Cutting Edge Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Team Robson Moura!

Kids Belt Promotion!

Cutting Edge Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu would like to congratulate all of the students that tested for their belts and got promoted on Saturday the 20th of December. ” They all did an excellent job of displaying their technical and physical abilities in all three areas of the test, with the Gi, No-Gi and Striking. I was impressed by the new students and absolutely amazed at how much the older students have improved” Sensei Josef Manuel
